WHAT IS CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis sativa plants and accounts for up to 40% of the plant’s extract. CBD is a natural occurring substance used in the manufacturing of a variety of products from edibles to topicals.
What is the Difference Between Cannabis, Marijuana and Hemp?
Cannabis is the plant itself which has numerous purposes from food to clothing and more. Hemp comes from the Cannabis plant with less than 0.3 percent THC. Marijuana are the leaves and flowering portions of the cannabis plants with greater than 0.3 percent tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the principal psychoactive portion of the plant.
Does Hemp and CBD Get You High?
While it comes from marijuana plants CBD does not induce intoxication (“high”), which comes from another cannabinoid Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CBD is not psychoactive. The body processes hemp faster than it can be absorbed. Accordingly, you cannot get high from hemp.

The human body naturally produces its own cannabinoids. It is believed that CBD directs the body to use more of its own cannabinoids which effect the CB1 and CB2 receptors. The receptors are responsible for coordination and movement, pain, emotions, and mood, thinking, appetite, and memories, and other functions.
What are the Benefits of Hemp?
Hemp seeds have earned the reputation for being a Superfood for good reason. They are said to be the most nutritionally complete food source in the world, with a nearly perfect balance of “healthy” fats in the form of Omega 3, Omega 6 and containing significant amounts of the amino acids, arginine, methionine, cysteine and glutamic acid.
Amino acids are essential to the body. We do not have the ability to naturally produce and must obtain them from a healthy diet.
Hemp is a wonderful protein source containing high amounts of vitamin E, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, sulfur, calcium, iron and zinc. The two main proteins in hempseed are edestin and albumin.
What are the Benefits of CBD?
Although Hemp and CBD have been documented as used by societies for millenniums, there is still much research needed to be done. CBD is not for everyone and like any medication or supplement the results vary from person to person. The Food and Drug prohibits making any claims regarding CBD.
Are There Side Effects to CBD?
Approximately 5% of users have the sensation of an altered state after consumption of CBD. To note, typically these are the same users having side effects from Tylenol and Advil. Side effects can include tiredness, depression, dizziness, hallucinations, low blood pressure and withdrawal symptoms.

Are All CBD Non-THC Products in the Market the Same?
The categorical answer is no. There are several factors which effect the CBD product.

What are the Different Ways to take CBD and How Long Does it Take to Act?
Forms: CBD may be swallowed in various forms including oils, tinctures, edibles, gummies, capsules, powders and more. After taking orally the CBD flows through the body’s digestive system, where there is bloodstream absorption throughout.
Length of Effect: While orally is the slowest methodology for CBD to reach its target, it does however remain at peak levels in the bloodstream the longest. Reports are anywhere from 1-6-hour effect.
Best Effect: Any oral CBD is best kept in the mouth for approximately 90 seconds before swallowing and should circulate around the mouth and under the tongue.
Absorption: Absorption levels vary depending upon several criteria. Its best taken on a full stomach where more of the CBD is absorbed. Consumption of healthy doses of fat increase absorption substantially as CBD is fat-soluble.
Sublingual: Prior to swallowing retaining the oral form of CBD in the mouth promotes absorption directly into your bloodstream from capillary-rich areas associated with the cheek, gum and underneath the tongue.
Forms: CBD may be applied to the skin in cream, oil forms and sprays.
Length of Effect: A topical approach targets the desired area but minimally involved bloodstream absorption. The objective with the topical is to reach the effected muscles, inflamed cells and pain-perceiving nerves. Time frames for length of effect will vary substantially depending upon the area and efficacy objective. Initial effects are typically realized in 5-15 minutes lasting up to several hours.
Absorption: As topical is applied directly to the area and bypasses the bloodstream it is quickly absorbed into the surrounding cells.
What is the Proper Dosage of CBD?
CBD isn’t currently regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and there are no official recommended dosages. As with all medications and supplements it varies from person to person depending on various factors both from the CBD and the subject. The even more challenging factor are the various companies marketing the products with various concentrations of CBD and various “additional” ingredients. The most prudent method is to begin with minimal doses assuring no side effects after, you consult with a healthcare professional for advice. CBD could lower your blood pressure and interfere with your body’s ability to process certain pharmaceutical drugs.
An often sited recommendation is 1-5mg of CBD daily for every 10 pounds of body weight based on the severity level of the condition.
How Long Does CBD Remain in Your System?
Up to 30 days. At the present time, there are no known lab tests for CBD in your system. But does not mean that cannot change.
How Long Does Hemp Remain in Your System?
The body processes the minute traces of THC faster than it can be absorbed and as a result there is nothing residual to detect.
What is the Sensation from CBD?
Non-intoxicating or the technical term is “non-psychoactive.” CBD is consumed for particular objectives and feelings will be different from person to person. Each manufacturer has different ingredients with varying strengths, purities and repeatable formulas; accordingly, results may vary dramatically. We recommend visiting user groups and blogs to get unfiltered consumer feedback. Again, always consult healthcare professionals.
Is CBD Legal?
There is quite a bit of conflicting legislation and policies both from the federal and state levels. Hemp and hemp derived products are legal under the Federal Farm Bill, if their THC content is less than 0.3% as THC is the psychoactive aspect. The Federal Drug Administration says: Under section 301(II) of the FD&C Act, it is prohibited. At the state level, 37 states say its legal and is widely sold. If you ask the world’s largest vitamin shops and many retail chains their position is its legal and offer the product for sale on their retail shelves and via mail order.
In a bizarre twist in California marijuana can be sold for a legal high, but food and beverage products with CBD and no THC (no high) are not permitted. The legislative landscape has been very fluid over the past year.
Is Hemp Legal?
Hemp is legal in all 50 states as it contains only trace amounts of THC.
